Stretching her pink colored paws into the air, Izumi yawned as her bleary eyes blinked at the rising sun. Sometimes she wished the sun wouldn't come up... she really started to miss her little hovel of a home back on the island. Wiggling the digits of her forepaws and then back paws, the wild child of a kitsune wandered off trying to find a new way home. All her previous attempts had failed. Swimming was out of the option... she wasn't a very good swimmer when it came to deeper water. She tried building a "bridge" with sticks and vines. That was a horrid idea. The kitsune shivered at the memory. The boat attempt was even worse. Izumi couldn't help but huddle in the shadow of a tree and pick at the grass.

Was there any practical way back home that didn't involve swimming? Mopping, the sunset kitsune wandered about the forest aimlessly. She couldn't come up with anything. Lost in deep thought, Izumi took a sudden tumbled as her paws tripped over something on the ground. Landing face first onto the earth, the kitsune made a muffled cry. She was probably cursing, though the earth made her voice indistinguishable. Rolling over and rubbing her dirtied face, Izumi muttered some more, spitting out some grass that got caught in her mouth. Glaring at the object that she tumbled over, anger slowly turned into curiosity. She was extremely tempted to give the object a good kick but...

Izumi's eyes found themselves staring at a set of slim legs. She'd seen legs like those before... Suddenly, a spark of memory made the kitsune have an "A ha!" moment. The legs were a lot like the creature who saved her when she washed ashore. Pushing the bramble that covered the creature, Izumi discovered a sleeping child that was just like her savior! The little one ever had her Savior's markings! She even smelled a little like her Savior. But oddly enough... the little one was colored very much like herself. And she even had a tail like a kitsune!

...

...

...

After an awkward silence, Izumi started flailing around trying to figure out what to do. Was it possible? Could this child be some practical joke? Was she a gift from the Gods? Glancing around, Izumi wondered where her Savoir was, if they were even around. Oh dear, what was she going to do? Looking at the sleeping child she wondered and another "A ha!" moment made the kitsune dash away momentarily.

Not long after, Izumi returned with offerings of fresh leaves, berries, roots and even a freshly caught fish! Basking in the glory of her offerings, the kitsune wondered what to call the little one. The little one an air or regalness about her. And, she was likely a gift from the Gods. Thinking, Izumi tried to recall the name of a plant on her home island that possessed similar qualities. She remembered some yellow flowers near her home whose name meant 'imperial' in one language. Imperial... gift from the heavens, regal... Kigiku was the name of this flower. That's what she'd call this child.

Shanti peered down at the small creature in front of her, bending her neck gracefully to examine it more closely. Though it was surrounded by paw prints it clearly had tiny hooves adorning its spindly legs. She nuzzled it in curiosity, noting that it looked suspiciously like the little…“simple” kitsune she had rescued. It was like no other creature that she had ever seen, with an unusually fluffy tail for her kind, almost a strange hybrid. Still, the little creature’s head was shika in appearance, and a growing creature would need to eat to grow.

She swept away, on the lookout for food for the girl. Shanti had come across a beautiful patch of clovers and was busy collecting a mouthful when she caught sight of an early flower unfurling. The dahlia was a unique and delicate little flower, and she noted with interest that it was the same colors as the little girl she had come across. Dahlia, that would be a good name. It was very serene and would fit her perfectly.

With a new spring to her step she made her way back to the small creature, only to find that Izumi was already there. She placed the clover next to her, away from the disgusting scent of fish. “I see you have already met Dahlia, where do you think she came from?”

------------------------------

Izumi's ears twitched and she bounced up in excitement. Her Savior was here! Quickly she flailed her paws, trying to point to the sleeping child. But the kitsune paused for a moment when her Savior called the child Dahlia. That wasn't right...

"Kigiku!" Izumi replied in a stubborn voice as she pointed to the little one.

Two names were picked by two different sides.

Which name was the best name? The two were at a stalemate. The little one could only have one name.

Izumi suggested that they leave the naming in the hands of the Gods. Surely the Gods who had gifted them with such a precious child would pick out the best name.

And so making a prayer to the Gods, Izumi and Shanti waited for a sign...

(Aka, liked both names. Soooooo... we'll let you guys decide for us. XD;;; *Bricked*

Long post is long. OTL)
